Life is easy again and I'm grateful.  

It's nice to go running in the morning by the beach, drink your coffee slowly and draw pictures in the sun.  Maybe some ballet and races in the fall.  Trying to savor the free time while it lasts.

I have surely learned to love the newness of each day lately.  I am soaking up all the sunlight I can get my hands on and saving it up for when it gets dark.

I wanna put on something pretty, drive up the coast and feel some good wind in my hair with good company.  On another note, what would we ever do in this world without our friends?

Pen & Pencil Petals

More drawing.  This weekend I'd like to spend at least a little time sitting out somewhere warm with a cold drink and a sketch pad.   I am hoping the hardest decision I'll need to make in the next few days is what sundress to wear.

While taking in the gorgeousness of West Cliff Drive this evening, I noticed that Spring is here.  Last week's stormy gloom must have been good for the flowers and I was inspired to draw/instagram the night away.  It's nice to let the right side of your brain take over from time to time and give the logical side a break.

Gratitude

Feeling a renewed sense of thankfulness for everything right now.  Ever so grateful for the rainy days, the sunshine (especially), and lots of quality time spent with family lately.  No one is meant to spend life focusing on what's missing.  If you look hard enough you'll see that nothing is missing at all.

Last year, I said this about Valentine's Day and although a lot has changed I still feel the same way about today.  I'm a hopeless romantic.  Take time today to tell the people you love, that you really do love them.

Conceptual Artist :: Rune Guneriussen

Rune Guneriussen is a conceptual artist and photographer from Norway.  He uses man-made objects placed mostly in nature to tell a story.  Ever since I first saw photographs and documentaries on the installations of the more well-known Christo and Jeanne-Claude,I've been intrigued by displays of this variety.  There is something wonderfully pointless about it all and it amuses me to no end.  Maybe that is the whole point anyway.  Some might argue that spending time/energy/money to create an installation that will simply be photographed and then dismantled is insane.   To them I would say that is probably accurate, and also, have you ever seen that show cake  boss? Because that's how I feel about those stupid cakes.

Candy Colors

On a whim, I put a little color in my hair using this technique which is temporary and easy.  I bought Senellier chalk pastels from the good art store as suggested in the tutorial, which cost about $5 a pop but they really are the best and they make every my little pony mane color you could imagine.
 {I know they're the best because now everything in my bathroom is pink} 

It was suggested that you NOT use water for blonde hair.  I did because I'd like the color to stay for a little longer but the pigment is very rich and transferred easily on dry hair too.

One thing I will say about this technique is that it is obviously hair abuse.  The chalk sucks the life out of every strand and especially if you spent the last 10 years mistreating your hair by dying it blonde {moi}, the end result is going to be somewhat crunchy. I think it's a good idea if you're considering a permanent rainbow dye job though. If you have silky smooth non-abused hair I'm sure you'd end up with a more desirable texture.

Overall this is a fun mix of art project/science experiment
